OUR STORY

A PASSION FOR PEOPLE, PLACES AND HAPPINESS

We wanted to create something exceptional—something genuine and personal. An original and unforgettable kind of hospitality. One that celebrates people and relationships. This is the story of what we've created.

FIRST, A WORD ABOUT OUR NAME...

Acme. Yes, like the roadrunner. Acme literally means the best, perfection—yet, like the roadrunner, it's whimsical. So, while we're very serious about creating incredible environments and guest experiences, we don't take ourselves too seriously. The way we look at it, we're not just in the restaurant and hotel business, we're in the happiness business.

PEOPLE AND PLACES ARE AT THE HEART OF WHAT WE DO.

Since its founding by hospitality visionary Sherry Villanueva, Acme has been dedicated to the urban renewal of downtown places, brought back to life by her passion for people. Sherry believes people breathe life into places through connections with one another. Hospitality with Heart means that when you combine a passion for people, a love of places and the pursuit of fun, anything is possible.

OUR LEADERSHIP TEAM

The champions and cheerleaders. The people who live and breathe the notion that we are in the business of making people happy.

Some journeys begin with a single plate—for Skyler, it was washing dishes in a college cafeteria. What started as an entry-level job blossomed into a profound love for hospitality, transforming him from a curious young worker to a pivotal leader at Acme Hospitality. His path winds through iconic brands like Kimpton Hotel Group, where he opened properties in Philadelphia and Denver, before finding his true home in Santa Barbara. At The Lark, Skyler didn't just manage a restaurant—he helped write its story, moving from Floor Manager to General Manager, and later launching Loquita with the same passion that first sparked his career. Shifting between People & Culture and Operations, Skyler embodies Acme's belief that great hospitality is about understanding people—their stories, their experiences, and the connections that make every moment memorable.
